Skiing in Germany: moments of happiness on the slopes and trails
Germany, a winter sports paradise? Yes, it is! Especially when it comes to variety. Bavaria, with its high mountains on the edge of the Alps, is particularly popular. Short travel distances attract international ski fans and day trippers alike.
But there are also excellent ski resorts in other federal states. These can be found, for example, in the Black Forest, the Sauerland, the Harz Mountains, the Thuringian Forest, the Rhön Mountains and the Erzgebirge. And in the flatter federal states such as Thuringia and Saxony, popular cross-country skiing centres have sprung up in place of large ski resorts. Of course, Nordic sports are very popular, thanks to the excellent network of cross-country ski trails. Winter hiking is also popular in the central regions of Germany.
Would you like to rent and test skis, cross-country equipment, snowboards, ski boots and more for your family holiday in Germany? Then secure your gear online today – or right at your chosen INTERSPORT location when you arrive!

The Advent season is one of the most rewarding parts of a winter holiday in Germany. Even if there are a few more people on the slopes and in the cities, a visit to a traditional German Christmas market is such an atmospheric experience that it is sure to remain a fond memory. We recommend the Christmas markets in Nuremberg, Stuttgart or Munich, for example.
